On the 78th Week of the Feeding Program

The Venue for the Batch 75 Community Feeding Program is at the Baranggay Lucnab Hall, Baguio City. We are lucky that the Brgy Officials are allowing us to use the barangay hall every Saturday between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Inside the Brgy Hall is a view window where you can see Itogon and Tuding. If you locate the center of the picture below (But you won't see any of their little houses here), then that vicinity is where some of the kids are coming from for our feeding program. They have to walk and climb up the mountain (or neighbor's fences) to reach our location.

It was 11:00 am when the feeding started. These underweight children where selected by the barangay health volunteers. Their physical attributes do not match their current ages.

There were 18 participants today (Jan. 27, 2018). This feeding program was launched on July 2017 by Mariet Javier and Ramon Alimbuyao and were held regularly every Saturday at the Brgy Hall. There were also non-batchmates who donated earlier to this program. They were Silver Molano and Josie Bravo for the six months supply of milk and rice. Labor for research and cooking services were contributed by some volunteers from the barangay and school. The January to March 2018 supports are from the pure in heart of Luther Garcia.  

Today's meal includes rice, giniling, and pakwan. Two barangay volunteers bought and prepared these food today. Last Saturday, the kids ate rice with tinolang manok. Next Saturday's Pananghalian will be rice, mongo with malungay.

Mariet is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition. She is a real nutritionist. 

Near the Brgy Hall is the Lindawan Elementary School where Mariet Javier is a Master Teacher.

At the school's Aqua Ponic Garden

The concept of this Aqua Ponic Garden:

Tilapia and other marine spicies deposited their waste at the bottom of the pond. A pump suck up the water with the waste to the plants above to serve as fertilizer and watering system. Gravity brings back the water to the pond and the process will be repeated. 

Visiting this place is a wonderful and educational experience. We hope that every batchmate will spend at least one of their Saturday in the feeding program and then visit this Aqua Ponic Garden, too.
